Housing Authority honored in Holyoke
HOLYOKE – Holyoke Housing Authority has been named a 2011 recipient
of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials Merit Award for its work creating affordable homes for low-income families.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement in housing and
community development programs through the nation. The award will be
presented to the housing authority for its Affordable Homeownership
Partnership. In an effort to create affordable housing for low-income
families, Catholic Charities and Holyoke Housing Authority partnered to
build two-three bedroom homes from a collection of low cost materials
ranging from donated land to volunteered labor.
